One of the works that I am most fond of is my research into the protective and risk factors of resiliency after traumatic events. To create this paper, I interviewed a mountaineer about his journey back to climbing after a fall that left him severely injured and with a long physical recovery both in and out of the hospital. This paper also explores the parallels of his recovery from childhood trauma that impacted how he used previously learned coping skills in order to return to the activities he loved. My research regarding this topic has inspired me to support future students impacted by similar traumas by building protective factors at school like mentorship, participation in clubs and sports, and trust within the community.
